EUGENE KRASNAOK
My professional camera gear
I’m Eugene Krasnaok, a New York photographer since 2009. Over 16+ years I’ve shot weddings, headshots, engagement sessions. Every image was made with gear I personally chose. Below is the exact kit I own and operate.
Cameras I use
My journey: Canon 40D → 5D Mark II → 5D Mark III → 1DS Mark III → mirrorless RF. I now shoot primarily with three Canon R6 generations. They are fast, reliable, and produce client‑ready files even in low‑light.
Canon EOS R6 Mark III (primary) + R6 Mark II / Mark I as backup

Why it’s my workhorse:
- 24.1 MP full‑frame – perfect balance for print & digital
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II – locks onto subjects instantly (even in dark dance floors)
- 40 fps electronic burst – never miss a ring exchange or game-winning shot
- Dual card slots (CFexpress + SD) – redundancy is non‑negotiable
- IBIS up to 8 stops – handheld 1/2 sec shots
Commercial edge:
- ✔ Files that edit fast in Lightroom (no 50MP lag)
- ✔ Weather‑sealed for unpredictable NYC shoots
- ✔ Silent mode for ceremonies / board meetings
- ✔ Second/third bodies = zero lens swapping during key moments
Fujifilm X100VI (personal / street / B‑roll)

While Canon covers 100% of client work, the Fujifilm X100VI lives in my bag for personal documentary and those off‑duty moments. Its film simulations sometimes inspire the color grading I bring to engagement sessions. Not a commercial tool, but it influences my eye.
Leica Q3? I tested it — beautiful, but too slow for my high‑volume wedding & corporate workflow. Stick with Canon RF for speed.
Lenses: RF glass that defines my look
Every lens is Canon RF mount – optically superior and built to last. I invest in glass because it outlasts bodies.
Zoom lenses (fast & versatile for events)
Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM – the MVP

Most-used lens (60% of wedding day). From wide ceremony shots to tight portraits, this f/2.8 zoom delivers tack‑sharp images across the range. Ideal for fast‑paced receptions where swapping primes would cost seconds.
- Aperturef/2.8 constant
- Image stabilizer5 stops (combined with IBIS up to 8)
- Best forreportage, headshots, group formals
Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.0 L USM – the “cream machine”
Unique f/2 zoom gives me background separation similar to primes. It’s heavy, but for portrait‑heavy weddings or brand sessions, the extra stop is magic. I use it when the light drops or for that dreamy engagement look.
Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM – reach without bulk

Compact external zoom design fits in smaller bags. Indispensable for ceremonies (when I must stay in the back), corporate speeches, and any situation where I can’t walk close.
Canon RF 16-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM – immersive wide
For dramatic architecture shots (Brooklyn Bridge, interiors) and getting close to the action while including the environment. I sometimes use it for venue details.
Prime lenses (specialty & low‑light)
I carry these for maximum aperture, minimal weight backup, and creative looks. Each is selected for a specific NYC scenario.
- RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM – environmental portraits, street‑style engagement
- RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM – detail shots (rings, invitations) + macro
- RF 50mm f/1.4 L VCM – standard/natural perspective (low light receptions)
- RF 50mm f/1.8 STM – ultra‑light backup, fits in any pocket
- RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM – the ultimate headshot lens, creamy bokeh
- RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM – walkaround macro, food/details

Lighting: strobes & speedlights for every scenario
From natural‑light headshots to multi‑strobe brand campaigns, my lighting kit ensures consistent, professional results anywhere in NYC.
Battery‑powered studio strobes:
- Profoto B10 / B10X (250Ws & 500Ws) – location headshots, Central Park
- Godox AD400Pro – outdoor weddings, corporate interviews
On‑camera speedlights:
- Canon EL‑1 (flagship speedlite) – durable, fast recycle
- Godox V1 – round head, even coverage for receptions

Memory & backup: zero data loss guaranteed
Dual slots always active. I use 256GB & 512GB ProGrade / Sony CFexpress + SD cards. After each wedding, files are immediately backed up to SSD (on‑site) and cloud (Backblaze).
- Card type
- CFexpress Type B (512GB)
- SD UHS‑II (256GB)
- Use case
- primary slot – high burst, 4K video
- secondary slot – realtime duplicate
Redundant gear: three bodies, never a single failure
Every assignment, especially weddings, I bring three Canon R6 series bodies. Two in active use (e.g. 24-70 + 70-200), one as backup. Lenses are doubled: if one 24-70 fails, the other is instantly ready.
My second and third R6 bodies aren’t just backup cameras — they’re active tools during large weddings and events, allowing me to keep multiple focal lengths ready without swapping lenses in the middle of key moments.
Why this kit matters for your project
I’m not a gear collector – I’m a working photographer who needs reliability, speed, and image quality that New York clients expect. Whether you need headshots for your law firm, coverage of your wedding, or a brand campaign, this gear (and my 16 years using it) ensures you get stunning, consistent results.
